America’s Cup: Designing the best AC75

With the newly created AC75 for the 36th America’s Cup, yachting historian Jacques Taglang and yacht designer Francois Chevalier have analyzed the designs of the four entrants. As each team built two boats, here is the progression each took to arrive at the best solution:

The first four AC75s built in 2019—we have already featured them on the blog—have had their share of surprises. Built in view of the 2020 America’s Cup World Series regattas in Cagliari and Portsmouth, they are now destined to be scrapped (!) as these races have been canceled…
