The first Southerly 48 to be built and launched by Ocean Shipyard Limited has hit the water and undergone successful sea trials off Southampton.
The boat is the first launched by the company, which took over the site of Discovery Shipyard last year. (Read more here)

CEO Steve Edwards said: “We are delighted to have successfully completed and launched a brand new Southerly 48, with a number of sea trials having taken place in the Solent to put her through her paces. A lot of hours and dedication has gone into producing a sailing yacht that is not only easy to sail, but stable and solid enough to handle any passage.
“Our focus now turns onto the next Southerly 48, due to launch and the end of the year, and a busy 2023 planned with the first of a new generation of Southerly 42 launching. We at Ocean Shipyard Limited are really excited for the future of the Southerly range.”
The Southerly 48 was voted The Bluewater Cruiser of the Year at the 2019 British Yachting Awards.
