The Portsmouth-based organisation is the UK’s oldest and largest youth development sail training charity. With a focus on working with youngsters from disadvantaged backgrounds, the charity has been providing young people with life-changing experiences at sea for 66 years.
TSYT’s four Challenger yachts were built in 2000 and are famous for having raced twice round the world as part of the Global Challenge races.
The charity is currently recruiting qualified Skippers and Mates to help deliver its vital youth development voyage programme over the summer and beyond.
TSYT Skipper, Jim Prendergast said: “TSYT is a great charity to work for, I enjoy making a difference to young people’s lives and introducing the next generation to sailing.
“I enjoy the family atmosphere of working with other sailing staff and sailing onboard the Challenger yachts, which are large, robust and challenging.”
TSYT also has opportunities for volunteer Skippers and Mates to join the team!
May Forgan, volunteer Mate, said: “I first sailed with TSYT as a young person onboard a voyage and worked my way up to Mate.
“I enjoy working with the young people, seeing them step out of their comfort zones and observing the difference just one voyage can make.”
