Vendée Globe: For all the marbles

(January 19, 2021; Day 73) – The Vendée Globe remains wide open as a leading group of nine skippers form the vanguard with a slight advantage for Charlie Dalin and Louis Burton in the NE’ly trades of the North Atlantic. Adding to the drama is that while the lead group is on starboard tack, Burton has footed off for the next transition, and is always going faster, which places him furthest north. With the tracks of Dalin and Burton now having over 200 nm of separation, that leverage could be huge if Burton’s westerly route pays off…
